Lake Washington School District Needs Your Help in Steering County Land Use Policy

Our district has been very responsible about planning for growth by purchasing affordable, appropriately sized lots where expansion will eventually be needed (for example land for a high school near Redmond Ridge). King County may decide to reinterpret the state Growth Management Act in a way that would keep LWSD from using that land for schools because it's classified as "rural". If this reinterpretation is adopted we'd be forced to pay much more to expand because we'd be required to buy urban property (expensive and often impossible). The County Council needs to hear from us on this issue, since paying for schools is tough enough!
