The
Redmond High School Parent Teacher Student
Association welcomes you to Redmond High School
and the new 2011-2012 school year! RHS PTSA
works closely with the administration and staff
and has been supporting the Redmond High School
community for over 30 years. This next two years
will be challenging as we navigate the
construction of additional classroom space and
welcome both a freshman and a sophomore class
onto campus in the Fall of 2012. Along with our
continuing programs, we will focus on helping to
ease this transition for both parents and
students.
One way to ease the transition, whether
it is this year or next, is communications.
Communication is crucial between home and
school, especially now. It is not often easy to
figure out where to get the best information on
PTSA news, and school events and activities. For
more information, please see our
Parent
Communications section on the back of this
letter.
Our first General Membership
meeting will be held Wednesday, September
14th in the RHS Career Center (Admin Wing)
from 7:00pm-8:30pm. Unlike previous
years, this meeting will not be held on the same
night as Curriculum Night. We welcome everyone
to attend.
Membership is the foundation of this
organization and a great way to stay connected.
Join now to help advocate for the students at
Redmond High School. New this year, the
membership fee is $15.00 for the first member and $10.00 for each
additional member. Please see our “All in
One” form. Members have a voice and a vote at our meetings. Additionally, as
an RHS PTSA member, you are also automatically a
member of the Washington State PTA (www.wastatepta.org),
and of the National PTA (www.pta.org). We
encourage you to check out their web sites from
time-to-time for valuable information and
membership benefits.
Each year we ask families to show
financial support for our students through our “Pass
the Hat”
Fund
Drive. It is our
one
main fundraiser with a goal of
$19,000.
Donations are used to fund projects for the
school, including department and teacher grants
for classroom equipment/enhancements, student
planners, scholarships for graduating seniors,
emergency preparedness supplies, etc. Please
remember to apply for “matching
funds” from your company for your donation
if it is offered. “Matching
funds” can double your gift!
We do rely on volunteers! Enclosed is our
volunteer form. You decide how you wish help out
and become involved. Return your completed
volunteer and “All in One” forms to the school
(drop off or mail) in the envelope provided. Our
“All in One” form was revised this year,
combining directory information, membership and
“Pass the Hat” donations.
We continue to seek ways to improve our
support of the community, so please contact us
with your ideas and comments. We are looking
forward to a great year!
